Free LinkedIn profile photo cropper and checker

Head Shot PROs crops your photo to a square, shows it in LinkedIn's circle and at the small size next to your posts, checks the light, sharpness and background, and saves it as an 800 × 800 or 400 × 400 pixel JPG. It's free, needs no sign-up, and runs in your browser, so your photo never leaves your device.

Stays on your device: cropped in your browser, never uploaded.

Choose a photo of yourself to see it in LinkedIn's circle.

How to use it

  1. 1

Choose a clear photo of yourself. A phone photo taken facing a window works well.

  2. 2

Zoom and move the photo until your head and shoulders sit inside the circle, then read the quick checks.

  3. 3

Download the JPG and upload it to LinkedIn: open your profile, tap your photo, and choose a new one.

What makes a good LinkedIn photo

Your photo appears next to your name everywhere on LinkedIn, often only a few millimetres wide.

  • Crop to your head and shoulders, with your face filling most of the circle.
  • Look at the camera with a relaxed, natural smile.
  • Use soft light from the front, such as a window, not light from behind you.
  • Keep the background plain so your face stands out when the photo is shown small.
  • Choose a recent photo that looks like you today.
  • Use the same photo on LinkedIn, Naukri and your résumé, so recruiters recognise you.

Questions

Is it free? Is my photo uploaded?
It's free and needs no account. Your photo is cropped and checked in your browser and never uploaded to us.
What size should a LinkedIn profile photo be?
A square photo works best, because LinkedIn shows it as a circle. This tool saves a square JPG at 800 × 800 pixels, which stays sharp on large screens, or 400 × 400 pixels for a smaller file.
Does it change my face or background?
No. It only crops, resizes and checks the photo. To get a new professional photo with a suit or blazer and a clean background from your selfies, use our AI LinkedIn headshots.
What do the checks look at?
Light, contrast, sharpness, how busy the background is near the edge of the circle, and how many pixels of your photo the crop uses. They can't tell whether the photo looks like you or suits your job; that part is up to you.
Can I use it for Naukri, WhatsApp or Gmail?
Yes. Most profile photo slots are square or round, so the same square photo works there too.
